Lipoic Acid contains alpha-lipoic acid (ALA), also known as thioctic acid. ALA is a dietary antioxidant found naturally in plant and animal foods. Although it can be synthesized in the liver and tissues, the most powerful benefits are seen when it is taken at supplemental doses. ALA is reduced in the body tissues to dihydrolipoic acid (DHLA).
